    Ride #2 2021

So I got out again at the weekend. It was one of those frustrating rides where I performed better than last time but it didn’t show up in the metrics. Such is life, progress is always a few steps forward followed by a few steps back, especially when you’re the wrong side of 40. πŸ™„

Check out this cheerful character in the middle of my shrubbery. Beautiful purple flowers that match the magnolia tree next to it. It’s the first time this flash plant has flowered, 3 years after going into the ground.

After weeks in the making my grand vision for a future of fresh herbs came together today. Just need to wait patiently upon nature now.

At last: a Sunday road warrior session

I’m not typically a fair weather cyclist but getting out in the off-season simply wasn’t an option this year. Today was the big opportunity so I got out and got 20 miles in. Didn’t feel too bad, although not especially good either. It’s a start though, back on the horse πŸ‡

    Mid-floor bathroom

When I moved into this house it was undecorated, which is baffling given that two families had owned it prior for 9 years combined. I guess to some people living somewhere aesthetically pleasing isn’t a priority. I’m not “some people”…πŸ™‚

    40.

As with last year I made a fuss of my best friend’s birthday, us happy singles have to have eachother’s back at birthday and Christmas time. Had a great day myself, hard not to when it includes gifts, a traditional English breakfast, a safari park and a roast dinner with Champagne. 🍾πŸ₯‚

    Cat’s Birthday

You heard it here first, my little pal became a world wary 6 year old on Thursday 6th May πŸΎπŸŽ‚ As well as serving his favourite meal I bought him what I’m sure every cat wants: a statue to guard his outdoor den and keep evil spirits at bay! I’ve been getting more lap time…

    Keeping it fresh

Fresh herbs are a great way to add flavour to clean eating, which explains why I’ve spent a portion of the last 3 days assembling and painting my Vegtrug herb planter. Bring on the basil, rosemary, sage, etc etc

It’s the best metaphor for life…

… Google Pics regularly sends me “this time last year” or “this time two years ago” photo montages, and it humours me how predictable I am. The day after I layed fresh grass seed this year I got such a montage which showed how I did the same job on exactly the same day 2…

    Small pleasures

No matter how life is treating you it’s hard not to love this incredible sight each year. It seems especially pronounced, perhaps because the blossom has appeared against the backdrop of perfect blue skies. My cat is certainly happy, he’s loved being out in the sun these last few days.
