I always assumed the U2 classic “Pride (In the Name of Love)” was just another love song. A damn good one, mind you—but still, an example of history’s most well-worn theme.
But is it possible Bono was actually doing a bit of DIY and felt chuffed to bits? Maybe he was feeling both pride and love—for, say, a freshly painted wall or a garden path cleared of moss between the paving stones?
Or perhaps he cleaned his garage door and thought, *”F!k… that looks tremendous!”
Well, that’s exactly what I thought today after spending a couple of hours scrubbing 20 years of grime off the inside side of the garage door. In the not-too-distant future, I’ll be doing tough workouts near this door. It needs to be clean—not disgusting.
Job done.
Speaking of gross, I also removed an old, rusty satellite dish from the side wall (seriously, why do people never bother!?) and mounted a shelf for cycling accessories (see thrilling pics below).
A weekend of meaningful progress—with a whole one and a half days off, which is more than usual during term time.
