Out with the old in with the new

The big day has finally come: my trusty work computer has been replaced. It will now take up a new role as the main computer in my gym/garage.

My red Toshiba has been a total work horse. I wrote my PhD on it, I developed this website on it and I used it for every booking and online purchase since 2012. I even used it to apply for the very job which facilitated its replacement, as my employer has kindly provided me with a new one (picture below- thank you employer!)

To be clear my old Toshiba has been on its last legs for many years but it kept going, that’s the main thing. The speakers went first, the mousepad went second and the keyboard stopped working soon after. The battery has not worked for half a decade and the 300gb C-drive has been “full” for for longer than I can recall, even though there is literally nothing on it.

Oddly, these are the very things that endeared me to it though – it has limped on like a wounded animal and it has been there for me. It has got spirit, it has got character, it has been there and seen things. If an inanimate object can be a legend then my red Toshiba definitely makes the grade.

Retired, but not forgotten…
