Home for Christmas, 2021 edition

What can I say about Christmas that doesn’t verge on clichΓ©? Very little I’d guess. I’ve always kept Christmas well and in my own way, and the latter explains why I always enjoy it so much. No compromises, no bland middle ground so as to not offend certain understandings of what Christmas is or should…

Some 2021 garden highlights

No summer in the UK is the same as the last, nor is it predictable. I’ve had summers that have rained every day and others that have featured prolonged heat waves. Either way, each year some things grow fantastically whilst others don’t take at all, in spite of my best efforts. Here’s a little collage…

Kitten’s Winter Palace refurbishment

It was a hot priority for summer: cleaning up and repairing the cat’s outdoor den. It’s been de-spidered π·οΈπΈοΈπ¦, wiped down, repainted and damp proofed (well, I’ve used bin liners to keep rain out of the living compartment). Fingers crossed for customer satisfaction π€πΊ

Spring blooms

Check out this cheerful character in the middle of my shrubbery. Beautiful purple flowers that match the magnolia tree next to it. It’s the first time this flash plant has flowered, 3 years after going into the ground.

VegTrug of dreams

After weeks in the making my grand vision for a future of fresh herbs came together today. Just need to wait patiently upon nature now.

Mid-floor bathroom

When I moved into this house it was undecorated, which is baffling given that two families had owned it prior for 9 years combined. I guess to some people living somewhere aesthetically pleasing isn’t a priority. I’m not “some people”…π

Keeping it fresh

Fresh herbs are a great way to add flavour to clean eating, which explains why I’ve spent a portion of the last 3 days assembling and painting my Vegtrug herb planter. Bring on the basil, rosemary, sage, etc etc

It’s the best metaphor for life…

… Google Pics regularly sends me “this time last year” or “this time two years ago” photo montages, and it humours me how predictable I am. The day after I layed fresh grass seed this year I got such a montage which showed how I did the same job on exactly the same day 2…
