It’s good to look back on a solid year of progress between birthdays. In 2020 I took a big step backwards, my health and quality of life declining greatly. The situation was bad in itself and the time and effort required to escape it only made things worse.
I’m now in better shape than I was before that hellish experience in every sense of the term. The challenge now is to advance by losing weight, gaining fitness and staying on track with work goals. None of these objectives are too tough when considered in isolation, but fighting on multiple fronts is notoriously risk laden. Still, to do otherwise is to give up.
Anyway, here’s a few shamelessly materialistic treats for surviving (and on this occasion thriving in) another year. My second pair of Russell & Bromley’s (handmade in England no less!) and the “OG” Air Max 97 gold colourway. Oh, a touch of Balmain too…
Life can always be better but it could be so much worse. Overall I feel lucky to have what I have and truly believe that the best is still to come. That is perhaps the best gift one can hope for when you’re 40-something.
