I was too busy at the time to post about my trip to the north-west, specifically Liverpool and Chester. I hadn’t visited the former for 20 years and have never visited the latter.
The centre of Liverpool is changed almost beyond recognition, and I genuinely loved the juxtaposition of old and new (although UNESCO does not feel the same way, having delisted Liverpool as a world heritage site due to all the new building). Continuity and change is a difficult balancing act, and I cannot pretend to know what the new buildings replaced. Hopefully nothing ornate like what remains.
Chester and Chester Zoo lived up to expectation, and a fun time was had by all. The restaurant (below) is called “Shiraz BBQ” – very cool.
