Spring & Early Summer

It has to be the best time of year because the days get longer, the garden springs back to life, there’s a bank holiday every few weeks and you get to wear a single layer every now and again due to the warmer weather.

Partly in relation, you feel a natural pull outdoors and cannot resist tinkering (note: this may not apply to under 30s but definitely does to over 40s). In the last few weeks I’ve performed countless around-the-house tasks including touch-up paint jobs and the planting of new green friends. My cat has done a fine job of supervising my work, whilst enjoying the blossom and flowers that have already emerged.

It’s such a busy time of year (more so for people than cats), especially in my line of work when you’re between the completion of teaching jobs and the start of marking jobs. One or the other is straightforward but when you’ve got both on at the same time it can put pressure on your ability to tend to the long list of spring jobs.
