Christmas in London, 2021

I’ve never done London in Christmas week and perversely it felt like the perfect time. I expected the city to be empty of international tourists and office workers and I was right. It was so quiet, central London was like a peaceful festive village (well, by London standards). Absolutely amazing time!

Monday 20th December: Chelsea, Harrods, Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, Selfridges, Regent Street and Soho

The highlight of day 1 was dancing Santa and his party girls in Selfridges. They had a DJ playing; it felt authentically like a Christmas party (whereas Harrods felt like hard work, with the exception of the wine store which was/is phenomenal).

Tuesday 21st December: The City, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square

Seeing the “crap” Christmas tree that everyone has been talking about this season. I felt sorry for the tree – poor thing. Is anyone or anything not held up to impossible beauty ideals?

A Christmas gift from Jeff Santa Claus Bezos

Your first £10 shop at Amazon Fresh is free. So thanks for the Christmas goodies Santa Jeff (which cost me, well you, exactly £10 – bargain of the season!!). For the record the concept worked, you “just walk out” and a receipt is emailed later. I’ll happily to use again.
