As a former wine industry man I know as well as anyone how much snobbery there is around fermented grape juice. I’ve heard every slight you can imagine in relation to “supermarket wine”: it “tastes like bathwater,” “I wouldn’t clean my toilet with that” etc. Now don’t get me wrong some wines are better than others, and you get so much more for £10 per bottle than £6 (assuming genuine pricing). There are exceptions though, and the challenge is to know the best wines at the best price points.
So Tesco was running it’s “25% off” deal this week so I swung by to hoover up some bargains. Now Tesco (being crafty as they are) had removed many of the line deals on low margin cheap and cheerful options, so there wasn’t many killer offers for bottles below £8. Fortunately for me there was still a few hot items if you knew your stuff though.
I got 18 bottles including Kanonkop Kadette x2, Vasse Felix Shiraz x2, a Clicquot and Piper Heidseick for less than £130. If I wasn’t on holiday I would write the CEO of Tesco an apology for robbing them. 😏
Obviously everything here I would recommend; all powerhouse options when they are on double deals (i.e. a line discount + 25% off). I also had an extra 4% off through work and a £4 Clubcard discount. Every little did help thank you very much 🎄🎁🎉
