It’s widely noted that our rich inheritance of ash trees is gravely threatened in the UK. “Ash dieback” has arrived in the country from overseas, spreading rapidly. As the article below highlights, recent weather patterns have only acted to help it along.
I’m lucky enough to have an adult ash in my back garden and I’m duty bound to protect it! 🚫🪓 Baby ash trees also sprout within its vicinity (an example is in the pot below), so I will have to plant them strategically for the betterment of the future population.
My garden isn’t huge but there is over 20 trees. Imagine if that was the case for every similar sized garden in the UK. Tens of millions more trees, additional habitat for countless species and cleaner air for everyone. If only…!
