Another day another new artwork

My taste in art isn’t for everybody and I’m fine with that – I like what I like and cannot entirely explain why. I rarely have guests (by choice) so I do not have to concern myself with other people’s opinions. I focus entirely on what captivates me and what works in a given space. Perhaps love is blind in relation to art as it is people..?

I’m certainly no expert, my knowledge of art is similar to most people’s knowledge of wine: I know what I like and that’s all I want to know. I’ve done the tourist trail of major galleries in Europe and the US, ticking the “culture” box and occasionally enjoying it.

I tend to relate to pre-modern art with Old Testament themes. I’m tempted to say they’re allegorical of the Hobbesian times in which we live but I’m not pretentious enough for that (OK, I am). My favourite artists are Bosch, Rubens and William Blake. Even an art dunce should know which of these painted the latest addition to my gallery (by which I mean gym/garage!) 🙂
