Results are in!: Diet week #7

In a chat with a friend yesterday I observed that the changes in my body are racing ahead of the changes in my weight. My waist in particular is shrinking rapidly whilst my biceps seem bigger, filling my shirt sleeves. Maybe this is wishful thinking but I’m seeing rewards and feeling progress and this is keeping diet fatigue at bay.

In week #7 I lost 1.8lbs, of which 1.4lbs was fat (see Diet Dashboard). According to the scales the remaining 0.4lbs was muscle mass which is hard to believe given that I did 3 hard weights sessions this week (and ached accordingly – indicating muscle growth). Getting the balance right between gaining/retaining muscle and losing weight is not easy…

My diet is healthy and sustainable, my heart wants big weekly losses but my head knows there are limits to sustainable weight loss. I still think I can get to and beat 2lbs per week but it will take a massive effort and/or a little good luck I suspect. My water weight is still 3.1% up from my starting point which is several pounds. I don’t know if this is a permanent shift or temporary – if it’s the latter there’s plenty easy losses in the bag.
