This is the first significance design change since I set the site up in early May 2020. It now looks pretty much how I envisaged so it’s an important step forward.
As with many people I’m not a one dimensional caricature committed to one thing. I have a variety of hobbies and interests and I try to find time for all of them however difficult it may be. Everybody talks a good game about finding “balance” but even the most fleeting of glances makes it clear that many lack it, often chronically so. It’s an eternal struggle but what’s the alternative? To give up and allowing yourself to be subsumed and/or subjugated by work or some other all-consuming preoccupation? No thanks.
Life is a process rather than an end result so it’s important to understanding the nature and purpose of the process. To focus on end results often pins your happiness on arriving somewhere in the future. Upon arrival, you then realise that it hasn’t resulted in the anticipated nirvana or emancipation. And yet we often repeat the dream chasing cycle and expect different results.
This was me too for many years, chasing rainbows and telling myself that “this is the one final thing I need to make me happy.” In the end I realised that life is the process not the end result, you’ve got to learn to love it because that’s all there is: journeys and (occasional, brief) rest stops.
Ergo, this website documents the processes that I focus upon to pursue an enjoyable and meaningful life as I define it. I may well achieve things along the way and I will certainly post about these things; albeit, without losing sight of the fact that paradise never lies at the end of any given tunnel.
